A village always has stories. Festivals, Holiday Celebrations, Parades, Dining, Church Services and so much more. Stone Mountain, the historic village near Atlanta that occupies ground beside the namesake mountain, has all this plus a thriving arts community that includes nationally acclaimed Art Station Theatre.

Community in small towns is everything: a binding of souls and good energy. In this village, the residents, merchants and churches gather on regular occasions to meet, eat, chat and on select Friday nights, dance to live music.

Farmers Markets serve a community need: local grown produce, genuine barbecue crafted by a homegrown master, and condiments, sauces, herbs and spices.

Olivia Thomason, Stone Mountain's own artist, has painted murals, historic shrines, sports triumphs, village life, church services, performances, children and pets over a career that garnered many awards. Atlanta historian Dr. Richard Funderburke calls her "the unchallenged queen of Georgia folk artists."

Her latest painting, just completed, honors the Village Farmers Market. "This is more than a memory," says Ms. Thomason, "it's a vision of better days ahead when we'll all get together and enjoy what we have. "

The artist added that many have inquired about purchasing a print. "On request, I can produce highest quality fine art prints but the art printer I use requires a minimum order. But, the price is very reasonable," Ms. Thomason added.
