Deputies Nab Teen Wanted For Stone Mountain Slaying

A fugitive unit tracked down Shamar Davis, 17, following the Oct. 23 homicide, says the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

DECATUR, GA — Investigators with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office on Monday apprehended a Stone Mountain teenager who was wanted for murder and armed robbery. The sheriff's Fugitive Unit arrested Shamar Davis, 17, at a business near Decatur without incident and took him to the DeKalb County Jail, the sheriff's office said.

Davis was wanted on arrest warrants alleging that he shot and killed Justuss Rogers on Oct. 23 while committing an armed robbery, the sheriff's office said. At the time, Rogers was sitting in the front seat of his car on Pinnacle Drive in Stone Mountain.

Rogers, 26, a Decatur resident, tried to pull away from the scene in his Chevrolet Camaro, but the car struck two other vehicles and came to a stop on a curb, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
