Week Ahead: Holiday Cards Contest, Orphans' Gifts, and More

The DeKalb County Ethics Board meets Monday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Clark Harrison Building, 330 W. Ponce de Leon Avenue, 1st Floor, Decatur.
DeKalb County's Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs is hosting a Holiday Card Competition for children ages 5 to 12 and is now collecting submissions until Dec. 6. The winner will receive one seasonal pass to the Browns Mill Family Aquatic Center in Lithonia and one for an accompanying adult. Competition rules are available here.
This year in Stone Mountain, Mountain Park First Baptist Church and Kingdom City Church are collectively hoping to collect 2500 shoebox gifts from the local community to be shipped to orphans and children whose families can’t provide for their basic needs in impoverished and war-torn areas in Africa, South and Central America, Asia, and Eastern Europe.
