Arlington Heights Historical Society Celebrates 60 Years With Free Tours

What better way to honor a community staple's milestone than with tours that help residents and visitors appreciate local history?

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL - What better way to honor a community staple's milestone than with tours that help residents and visitors appreciate local history?

At least that's the thought of those behind the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, who are offering free tours between 9 a.m. an noon on Saturday, July 24. The service is part of the museum's 60-year celebration.

The Müller House, Banta House, Coach House, Log Home and Pop Factory will be open for the public to walk through and learn about early life in Arlington Heights. Tours are self-guided with docents available to answer questions and provide highlights. No registration is necessary.

All begin in the Heritage Gallery, 110 W. Fremont St., with the exhibit, A Pop of Local Flavor: A Sweet Story of Arlington Club. The exhibit provides history of the beloved Arlington Club soda introduced in 1872 by F.W. Muller. In addition to the history of the soda, the exhibit offers visitors an insight into the Muller family.

The free tours are scheduled on the last Saturday of each month during the Farmers Market, which is held weekly every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. through October 14 in the commuter lot across the street from the Arlington Heights Historical Museum. After touring the museum, visitors have an opportunity to purchase Arlington Club soda four-packs in the gift shop as well as other Arlington Heights related items.
