Arlington Heights’ New Mayor Selects Pro Tem

Trustee Thomas Glasgow selected as president pro tem.

Arlington Heights Trustee Thomas Glasgow will be taking on an additional role on the village board as president pro-tem.

Mayor Tom Hayes selected Glasgow, recently elected to his second term, to fill the spot and the board approved his nomination.

Glasgow’s professionalism and experience will serve the village well and help the board transition as it moves forward, Hayes said.

It was a tough choice and he felt every trustee would do a good job, Hayes said. He narrowed the field to a trustee who has served at least four years and someone who works locally. Hayes felt he wanted a pro-tem who would be close by during the day.

Glasgow, an attorney who has been active in the community for 25 years, was not present during the discussion of his appointment. There were no objections.

“Over the years, I’ve not always agreed with Trustee Glasgow but I appreciate the questions he asks and I appreciate his support of Arlington Park,” Trustee John Scaletta said.

“Thank you very much for your trust,” Glasgow said following the vote.

Next week, the board will vote on Hayes’ appointment, Plan Commissioner Robin LaBedz, for a vacant trustee seat. She is expected to be sworn into office before the village board meeting begins on Monday, May 20.
