Arlington Heights Students Among Top Illinois Student Scholars

Dozens of John Hersey High School and St. Viator High School students were recognized among the top 10 percent of high school seniors.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — More than 100 students from John Hersey High School and nearly 50 from St. Viator High School have been named among the top high school seniors in the state by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission following an unprecedented final year of high school amid the coronavirus pandemic.

For more than 60 years, the commission has been recognizing Illinois state scholars, a designation given to the top 10 percent of graduating seniors statewide. Scholars are chosen by a combination of standardized testing scores and class rank during the second semester of junior year, according to ISAC.

"ISAC is pleased to recognize Illinois high school students who have been named 2021-22 State Scholars for their outstanding academic achievement," according to its website. "The 2021-22 designation applies to the year students will begin their postsecondary education."
