Arlington Heights Trash Pickup Delayed A Day Because Of Blizzard

PLUS: The village's 52 snow plows are out Monday, clearing roads around Arlington Heights.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The blizzard that has blown through Arlington Heights and surrounding communities has closed schools and caused power outages. Now it's affecting village trash pickup.

All garbage, recycling and yard waste will be collected by Groot a day later this week because of the weather, the village announced Monday. Trash and recycling should be put out at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the new day, and carts should not be left on the street.

All 52 of the village's snow plows are out clearing roads, according to the village. Arterial and collector streets will be cleared first, and plows will make two opening passes on all streets, then return later to plow the street full width to the curb, the village said.
