Arlington Heights Veteran to serve as guardian on Honor Flight

Local veteran, Greg Padovani, will serve as a guardian to World War II veteran Morrie Bishaf on the upcoming Honor Flight McHenry trip to the war memorials of Washington DC.

Local veteran, Greg Padovani, will serve as a guardian to World War II veteran Morrie Bishaf on the upcoming Honor Flight McHenry trip to the war memorials of Washington DC.  

Greg is a veteran of the US Army Medical Service Corps.  He began his military service 1975 as a medical platoon leader in the 2nd Armored Division at Ft Hood, Texas and retired as a Major serving in an US Army Reserve General Hospital Command.

In Arlington Heights, Greg serves as Chairman of the Veterans Memorial Committee of Arlington Heights – the group that has re-built Memorial Park and includes the distinctive Eternal Flame bronze sculpture.  Memorial Park offers commemorative bricks for veterans and their families. Each brick can be inscribed with a summary of the veterans military story. 

Over 600 of these bricks have been installed at the Park including a Fallen Heroes section for any veteran who died in the service of our Nation. The Fallen Heroes section includes special bricks for Arlington’s Fallen Heroes – the 58 young men from our town who died in the service of our Nation from the Civil War to Afghanistan.
