Blue Daisy a Friend to Many Desperate Guys on Valentine’s Day
Arlington Heights floral shop ready for Valentine's Day onslaught.
Annie Akmakjian took a lot of phone calls from husbands and boyfriends Wednesday calling in the nick of time for their Valentine's Day flowers.
It is par for the course for the Blue Daisy Floral and Design owner.
“I’ve had nothing but (guys) calling today,” said Akmakjian, who opened her shop, 102 S. Arlington Heights Road, in downtown Arlington Heights in May.

She and her staff are ready for Valentine’s Day, which is like Christmas for florists. Akmakjian will be on hand early and probably won’t go home until late at night.
Blue Daisy has a wide variety of gifts and specializes in creating custom floral arrangements. Akmakjian frequently uses exotic flowers and guarantees guys will not get a cookie cutter arrangements.

Using tropical flowers makes it look fuller and richer than a basic arrangement, she said. “It’s not what everyone else has in their home,” she said.
In the backroom, lots of roses were on hand along with exotic flowers in preparation for Valentine’s Day. Designer Felecia Turmell enjoys creating arrangements that will bring happiness to others.
“It’s joyful,” said Kim, another floral designer who did not give her last name.
Blue Daisy also handles weddings and recently designed the arrangements at the village’s Hearts of Gold awards ceremony. Photos of the shop’s arrangements can be seen on its Facebook page.
On Valentine’s Day, Akmakjian and her staff will be busy delivering flowers, make in new arrangements and will have cash and carry bouquets available.
She’ll also take new orders from desperate guys throughout the day.
“If you pick up, I can do it,” Akmakjian said.
