ROLLING MEADOWS, IL — A 73-year-old resident at a Rolling Meadows supportive living facility faces child pornography charges. Authorities were alerted after employees at the facility noticed the resident making inappropriate computer searches.
Gary Schar was charged with possession of child pornography. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence of three to seven years. His next court date is Nov. 26.
According to prosecutors, the staff at the supportive living facility first noticed the inappropriate searches June 23 while helping Schar with his printer, the Daily Herald reports. A supervisor called police, and on June 26, investigators interviewed Schar, who allowed them to search his computer and external hard drives, the report added.
