Nebraska Awards Record 3,594 degrees In May ceremonies
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred a record 3,594 degrees during commencement exercises May 7 and 8. The 3,512 graduates are from 58 countries, 43 states and the District of Columbia, and more than 250 Nebraska communities. The following is a list of area graduates:
- Madeleine Elizabeth Grant, of Arlington Heights, College of Journalism and Mass Communications, Bachelor of Journalism with distinction.
- Jacob Barrett Krupa, of Arlington Heights, College of Business, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
- Margaret Allison Morgan, of Arlington Heights, College of Arts and Sciences, Bachelor of Arts.

Riley Kapanjie Participates in UA's Cooperative Education Program
University of Alabama student Riley Kapanjie, of Arlington Heights, participated in UA's Cooperative Education Program for spring 2021. Kapanjie worked for International Paper-Selma.
In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

Vedner Named NWCA Scholar All-American for UW-Whitewater Wrestling
Ryan Vedner, a native of Arlington Heights, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team, was one of six Warhawks who were named 2020-21 National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Scholar All-America. Vedner is majoring in history at UW-Whitewater. Vedner qualified for recognition by carrying at least a 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the previous full academic year. The competitive component, which required that each wrestler won more than 67 percent of their matches and/or competed in half of the Warhawks' scheduled NCAA events, was suspended until 2021-22. Vedner posted a 3-2 record with one major decision at 184 pounds. He was listed in the "Contenders" category in their respective weight classes by D3wrestle.com.

Graham Selected for Emerson College Purple Key Leadership Society
Members of Emerson College's senior class were selected for its Purple Key Leadership Society, and recognized during the annual Emerson Recognition and Achievement Awards ceremony on April 9. Among the inductees is Arlington Heights native Rhegan Graham. The recipients of this prestigious honor demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, a strong commitment to civic engagement, and solid academic achievement. A committee (compromised of students from the junior class and members of the academic and student affairs staff) reviewed student applications based on the following criteria:
1. Leadership and service
2. Academic achievement
3. Citizenship and civic engagement
4. Future leadership potential
Graham is a member of the class of 2020 with a major in Media Arts Production.
