Cut-Through Traffic An Issue On Cleveland Ave.: Police

The Arlington Heights Police Department is looking for ways to address speeders on South Cleveland Avenue in town.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Authorities in Arlington Heights are looking at ways to address speeding for those who use a residential street to avoid standstill traffic on Arlington Heights Road. Those living along South Cleveland Avenue say drivers choose to travel down the street to bypass Arlington Heights Road between Central Road and Northwest Highway, according to the Daily Herald.

Video of a recent crash on Cleveland again has once again brought the issues along the road to light, residents told the newspaper. In the Dec. 10 crash, a home security camera showed a Toyota Camry heading north on Cleveland when it hit another vehicle head on while trying to drive around a parked car.

"We hear the residents," Czernecki said, "and we want to address their concerns. We want to revisit it. We want to take a look at the (speed) data again and see if there's anything we can do to improve, whether it's our enforcement or anything like that."
