Deerfields Bakery Closing Schaumburg Location
The company announced on social media Sunday that the Buffalo Grove and Deerfield locations will remain open.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — Citing "challenging times," Deerfields Bakery has decided to close its Schaumburg location at 25 South Roselle Road, according to a Facebook post Sunday. The owners state the Buffalo Grove and Deerfield locations will remain open.
"Unfortunately, we are unable to sustain operations given the current economic situation," the post reads. "We will be focusing our energy on our Buffalo Grove and Deerfield [locations]."
The history of the family-owned company, which has continued for five generations, dates back to 1886 when Adam Schmitt opened a bakery in Germany. His son, Henry would eventually buy a small bakery in Deerfield in the 1950s. The Schaumburg location was the newest when it opened its doors in 2000. The current Deerfield location, at 813 North Waukegan Road, opened in 1972. The Buffalo Grove location, at 201 North Buffalo Grove Road, opened in 1993.
