Husband Shoots and Kills Wife as She Holds Their Baby: Police
The Arlington Heights-area man was jailed without bail. He threatened his wife just days before the killing, prosecutors said.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — An Arlington Heights-area man who got drunk and shot his wife as she held their 1-year-old child faces a first-degree murder charge.
Investigators learned 38-year-old Divina Salgado was shot by her husband, Jose Arturo Salgado-Roque, as she walked into their home carrying their child on Sunday. The child fell to the ground and cut his head, according to the criminal complaint.
Salgado-Roque, 42, was denied bail on Tuesday.

Cook County prosecutors revealed that he was angry that his wife intended to divorce him and he told his sons, ages 15 and 18, that he intended to kill her.
"Hearing that the defendant would harm their mother, their two sons attempted to find the defendant's gun but were unable to locate it," reads the criminal complaint.

The husband got drunk over the weekend and was drunk when he shot his wife, according to investigators.
At about 1:45 p.m. on Sunday July 31, sheriff’s police responded to a report of a shooting at a mobile-home residence in the 100 block of Third Avenue in unincorporated Arlington Heights.
Salgado-Roque was taken into custody by police at the home. The 1-year-old and two other children were placed in the custody of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, according to the sheriff's department.
