Lifeguard Rescues Boy, 2, From Schaumburg Pool

The boy was pulled from the water after falling in at a village health club Wednesday.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — A 2-year-old boy was rescued from drowning by a lifeguard at a Schaumburg health center Wednesday. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital following the incident at the club's pool and was recuperating.

According to Schaumburg police, the lifeguard at Life Time Fitness, 900 E. Higgins Road, pulled the boy from the pool Wednesday, July 11, after seeing him face down in the water, the Daily Herald reports. The boy was given CPR and was awake and breathing once paramedics arrived at the scene, the report added.

Police said the boy's mother had been looking after other children at the time and briefly lost view of the 2-year-old, the report stated. It was during that time that the child ended up in the pool, the report added.

The boy was taken to Amita Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where he was listed in stable condition, the report stated. Police told the Herald that the child "seems fine" following the incident.
