Limited Spectators Can Return To Arlington Racetrack Thursday
Live horse racing continues until Sept. 26 at Arlington International Racecourse.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — With just over three weeks left in Arlington International Racecourse's summer meet, horse racing fans will finally get a chance to witness live racing in person. Starting Thursday, no more than 300 spectators will be allowed into the racetrack with outdoor seating options.
Tickets went on sale at noon Tuesday and are sold in sets of four at a designated table. They are sold online only and must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance. Guests must be at least 18 years of age.
Churchill Downs Incorporated, which runs Arlington, began a shortened summer race meet on July 23. The meet almost never happened due to a contract dispute between the owners and horsemen.

In addition, during a quarterly earnings call July 31 with shareholders, Churchill Downs Incorporated CEO Bill Carstanjen hinted that the property Arlington sits on might be of more value for something other than racing.
"The long-term solution is not Arlington Park," Carstanjen said. "That land will have a higher and better purpose for something else at some point."

The future remains to seen for the racetrack, but with a few weeks left of racing, some local fans will be able to place their bets in person.
