Live Racing Minus Spectators Returns To Arlington Racetrack
Arlington International Racecourse has instituted a number of protocols relating to COVID-19 for horsemen and staff.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington International Racecourse summer meet is officially underway. Live horse racing, minus spectators, returned Thursday with a shortened slate of racing.
Last month, the racetrack and the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association reached an agreement for the 2020 and 2021 race meets following a long negotiation stalemate between the two sides. Racing will be held on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Sept. 30, with post time scheduled for 2 p.m. each racing day.
Officials are open to the possibility of fans being able to attend live racing at some point during the meet.

"As the state of Illinois moves into different phases of the restoration plan and state officials determine spectators may be permitted, Arlington will keep their loyal fans updated on any revised plans as more information is available," officials said in a statement.
The racetrack's original 2020 promotional calendar has been revised to reflect no special events to adhere to non-spectator racing.
