Local Communities To Receive $3.3M Infrastructure Investment

State Senator Ann Gillespie (D-Arlington Heights) announced today that local governments will receive over $3.3 million in Rebuild Illinois grants for infrastructure projects.

“This investment will give our local governments much-needed help, as we work to fix our crumbling roads,” Gillespie said. “Our municipalities need all the assistance the state can provide as we continue to recover from the pandemic, and I am eager to learn which projects they choose.”

The Rebuild Illinois construction program set aside $1.5 billion for municipal and county projects, which will be released in six installments of $250 million. This installment is the third, and will provide $42,228.71 between Elk Grove, Maine, Palatine and Wheeling Townships and $3,313,550.99 between Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Palatine Prospect Heights and Rolling Meadows.

Projects, which will be selected and managed locally with financial oversight by the Illinois Department of Transportation, include road and bridge improvements, traffic signal upgrades, new storm sewers and bike paths, sidewalk replacements and other long-term maintenance needs.
