Arlington Heights’s New Mayor, Trustees to be Sworn in at Village Board Meeting
Tom Hayes is one of four incumbents, and one newly elected trustee, being sworn into office Monday, May 6. Hayes answered a few questions posed by Arlington Heights Patch to help residents get to know him a little better.

Trustee Thomas Hayes will become Mayor Thomas Hayes during a swearing in ceremony at tonight’s village board meeting.
Hayes won the April 9 election and takes the seat being vacated by Mayor Arlene Mulder.
It is the first time in 20 years Arlington Heights will have a new mayor.

While Hayes has been on the board for 22 years, his new role will put him in a different spotlight. Arlington Heights Patch asked Hayes a few questions to give readers some insight on their soon-to-be new mayor.

A seamless transition to new leadership as we continue to navigate out of difficult economic times.
2. What do you hope to accomplish during your tenure?
To ensure that Arlington Heights remains a great place to live and work with a quality of life that is second to none.
3. What’s your favorite song or band?
Carrie Underwood’s version of "How Great Thou Art."
4. What is your favorite book?
"John Adams" by David McCullough – a fascinating look at American history through the eyes of one of our founding fathers.
5. What inspires you?
As a person and as an elected official? Hard work, dedication to duty, and selfless service. Working together to accomplish common goals.
