New Weekly Coronavirus Cases Continue Rising In Arlington Heights

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Health officials in Illinois are continuing to see an uptick in coronavirus cases across the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Wednesday 3,790 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 28 additional deaths.

In Arlington Heights, cases have been rising for the last month after a drastic drop in cases to start 2021. As of Thursday, there have been 6,074 confirmed coronavirus-related cases in Arlington Heights, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. These numbers indicate an +118 percent change in confirmed cases over the last 14 days.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 127 people have died due to COVID-19 in Arlington Heights since April 8, 2020. The last death happened on March 27. The most deaths in a single day since the start of the outbreak was six on May 23, 2020.

As of Thursday, the Cook County Department of Health is reporting 227,272 confirmed cases and 4,143 deaths since the pandemic began. These numbers include all confirmed and probable cases under the jurisdiction of the Cook County Department of Public Health (excludes Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie, and Stickney Township).

On Tuesday, 139,724 doses were reported administered in Illinois.

The IDPH is reporting 25,603 confirmed cases in Cook County long-term facilities and 3,549 deaths. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three different occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.
