Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Metra Train in Arlington Heights
Metra trains along the Union Pacific Northwest line was back up and running following extensive delays Tuesday evening.

ARLINGTON PARK, IL — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a Metra train in Arlington Heights Tuesday evening, according to media reports. Metra officials told the Chicago Sun-Times the incident occurred at about 6 p.m. near the Arlington Park station.
The pedestrian was struck by train 637, according to the Metra website, and trains were halted as authorities responded to the scene. At about 7 p.m., the coroner and police were at the scene investigating the situation, according to Metra officials.
Around 8 p.m., extensive delays were still being reported along the NW line and some delays were still being reported during the early morning hours of Wednesday. As of 6 a.m., no delays were being reported along the Northwest line.

The incident is the second fatality in recent days along Metra's Northwest line after a person was killed Sunday in Des Plaines.
