Plea Deals Expected in 2012 Death of Palatine Man
The 19-year-old student died after a night of heavy drinking at a Northern Illinois University Fraternity.

Five former Northern Illinois University students are expected to plead out for their roles in the death of David Bogenberger, a 19-year-old Palatine resident who died after a night of heavy drinking at a Pi Kappa Alpha initiation event in November 2012, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.
Bogenberger was a freshman at NIU and his heart stopped, causing his death.
“The five former students were charged with felony hazing in connection with the 19-year-old Palatine resident’s death,” The Tribune reported. “DeKalb County prosecutors did not return a phone call seeking comment, but Gary Bogenberger said this week that as part of their negotiated plea deals, the five wouldn’t be sentenced to jail time.”
