Sam's Of Arlington Closes After 34 Years In Arlington Heights
The owner blames a second shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic for the decision.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Sam's of Arlington, a popular Arlington Heights eatery for 34 years, closed its doors permanently on Friday. Citing the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent need for a second shutdown, the owners made the announcement on its website and social media.
"This was a very difficult decision, one which we did not take lightly," owner George Vassos said in a post. "After serious consideration, we decided that Sam’s is not in a position to withstand a second shutdown, as we are still recovering from the first shutdown of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic."
Vassos also owns Honey-Jam Café, 2944 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights, which remains open.
