Shop Your Values at the Fair Trade Marketplace

Find handmade gifts that give back at this unique marketplace. All proceeds benefit Ten Thousand Villages.

In partnership with Ten Thousand Villages, Congregational United Church of Christ (1001 W. Kirchoff Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005) presents a Fair Trade Marketplace featuring handmade items.

Ten Thousand Villages (www.tenthousandvillages.com) is a non-profit organization that helps artisans secure living wages for goods produced in earth-friendly ways. The organization works closely with makers throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. This year’s Fair Trade Marketplace features handmade products and one-of-a-kind gifts, including jewelry, home decor, toys, and more. Every purchase has a direct impact, with all sale proceeds providing food, education, healthcare, and housing for the artisans and their families.

As CUCC event coordinator JoAnn Rapp reflects, “The Fair Trade Marketplace is a reminder of common values shared across world cultures: a family ’s economic stability, the pride of self-sufficiency, the joy of being able to provide our children with formal education, and self-esteem.”
