Arlington Heights Park District provides many staycation activities for Spring Break 2013.

Spring Break in Cancun not in the cards?

No worries. Families can still spend their days enjoying water activities as well other Arlington Heights Park District’s activities for a fun staycation.

The park district has many programs specifically for Spring Break, which begins March 22 for area school districts including District 25.

A Taste of Mad Science Camp

Explore the world of science by sampling the best of Mad Science. Sign up for one or all three days. Some of the topics are: Animals of Land and Sea Adventure, It’s a Gas Adventure and It’s Illusions Adventure where children will learn the “science secrets” of fun tricks.

Spring Break Extravaganza

Celebrate spring break with a week’s worth of fun at Olympic Indoor Swim Center. Children in grades 1 - 5 will participate in a variety of fun activities including: swimming, arts & crafts, and a variety of sports activities. Weather permitting; children will be going outside each day. Parents can sign up their child for one day or the whole week. Call Paul Ratajczak at 847-577-3015 with any questions.

Lego Robotic Spring Break Excursions

This is a fun-exercise for Lego aficionados and Lego veterans. Following the basic concepts of science and fundamentals of building with Lego materials, the participants will work with Lego Engineering kits and Robotic Kits to put to test their ingenuity and ability of creating different machines for problem solving.

Eggceptional Eggs

Bring  hard eggs to the Museum and turn them into works of art.  Use a variety of methods to turn the eggs from just white to fabulous while learning a little about the history of coloring eggs and decorating techniques. Even make musical instruments with eggs. Each family decorates up to two (2) dozen eggs together. Please register one family member per household; one adult must attend with the family. Bring a basket to transport your eggs home safely.

Let's Go Fly A Kite - Parent Child Class

Parents and children have been flying kites as a recreational activity for generations. In this class you will be working together to build your own kite to fly. Kite kit, supplies and decorations will be provided.

Spring Break at the Museum

Spend a day or a few at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum during spring break. A special tour has been added for Friday, March 29 at 2 p.m. The cost is $4 adults, $2 children ages 3-14. Regular Tours are always on Saturday and Sundays, at 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. Museum tours are a drop in program.
