Survey Gives Snapshot of Arlington Heights Consumer

Findings help paint a picture for village, businesses.

Arlington Heights residents are more likely to shop in town rather than head out to Woodfield Mall, according to a consumer shopping survey.

Public Research Group, of Naperville, conducted the survey and received about 1,700 responses. The answers those respondents gave will help the village shape its marketing strategies and help local businesses.

  • A majority of respondents were women, who often make shopping decisions for families.
  • The average age of respondents was 54 to 61. The survey excluded anyone under 18.
  • Thirty percent of respondents had a household income of $65,000 to $125,000 a year indicating Arlington Heights is a solid, middle-class community with disposable income.

The most popular downtown restaurants among respondents are:

  • Peggy Kinnane’s Irish Restaurant and Pub
  • California Pizza Kitchen
  • La Roca Tapas
  • Panera Bread
  • Egg Harbor Café

The people responding to the survey said considerations for shopping at businesses included the merchandise shops carried, easy parking, safe location, reasonable prices and a convenient location.
