Weekly COVID-19 Cases Start Dropping Again In Arlington Heights

There have been 6,308 coronavirus-related cases in Arlington Heights, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Health officials in Illinois are continuing to see an uptick in coronavirus cases across the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Thursday 3,170 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 33 additional deaths.

In Arlington Heights, weekly cases dropped again after rising over the course of the last month. As of Friday, there have been 6,308 confirmed coronavirus-related cases in Arlington Heights, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 103 cases since our last report on April 15. For comparison, there was an increase of 131 cases between April 8-15. These numbers indicate an +12.0 percent change in confirmed cases over the last 14 days.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 128 people have died due to COVID-19 in Arlington Heights since April 8, 2020. The latest death happened on April 21. The most deaths in a single day since the start of the outbreak was six on May 23, 2020.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 128 deaths is: 80+ (85), 70-79 (27) 60-69 (9), 50-59 (6) and 40-49 (1).

As of Thursday, the Cook County Department of Health is reporting 235,728 confirmed cases and 4,217 deaths since the pandemic began. This marks an increase of 3,480 cases and 30 deaths since our last report on April 15. For comparison, there was an increase of 4,976 cases and 44 deaths between April 8-15. These numbers include all confirmed and probable cases under the jurisdiction of the Cook County Department of Public Health (excludes Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie, and Stickney Township).

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,312,722 cases, including 21,755 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 88,336 specimens for a total of 22,008,695. As of Thursday night, 2,147 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 511 patients were in the ICU and 238 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from April 15-21 is 3.8 percent. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from April 15-21 is 4.4 percent.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 10,581,985. A total of 8,473,953 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 123,078 doses. On Thursday, 131,411 doses were reported administered in Illinois.

The IDPH is reporting 25,278 confirmed cases in Cook County long-term facilities and 3,487 deaths. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three different occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.
