LTD Hiring 1000+ Warehouse and Call Center Associates this Season

Rick Luciani, vice president of distribution center operations, let Patch in on a few secrets behind his own personal success as he described the sense of pride that each hard-working team member takes in LTD Commodities.

Patch: How long have you been doing business in town or how long has the organization you represent been around in the community?

Luciani: LTD has been in business for over 50 years and has been in Aurora, Illinois, since 1998.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Luciani: A friend of mine was a fork truck driver in a warehouse who was promoted from within, and I became interested in pursuing a similar opportunity. I started as a picker and built a career in warehouse operations.

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Luciani: Tremendous values on unique gifts.

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Luciani: The biggest challenge is overcoming the seasonality of our business, which requires LTD to hire many people in a short amount of time.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Luciani: The most satisfying part of my job is seeing people who started in entry-level positions build careers.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Luciani: People recognize LTD’s pricing as almost impossible to beat. Our customers order several items at one time because they recognize the value. All of our communications internally are in both English and Spanish. We also have a great culture with a focus on providing a fun and rewarding experience for our team members by offering paid training, seasonal events and contests, an on-site employee store with in store sales and 50 percent off all merchandise, attendance rewards, birthday treats, gifts and more.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?

Luciani: I’ve received several pieces of great advice. A few that come to mind:

• Seek first to understand.
• Begin with the end in mind.
• Don’t confuse activity with achievement.
• Center yourself with gratitude.
• You’re going to see the same faces up the ladder as you see down, so be good to people!

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about? If so, what details can you share, and what makes it so exciting?

Luciani: LTD will hire 1,000-plus seasonal workers in our warehouse and call center this season (some of which will be retained year-round). We provide an environment for our team members that rewards hard work with Fun Fridays and many holiday activities and events. In addition to our hiring efforts, LTD will ship millions of cartons of gift products to customers throughout the United States. Our team members have a sense of pride and accomplishment as we satisfy so many customers.

Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?

Luciani: We recently attended a few local job fairs, with the most recent one being at the Prisco Center through our partnership with Invest Aurora. We participate in other local events and will host onsite career fairs as well.
