2-Way Traffic To Begin On Downer Place In Aurora
A stretch of the one-way road in downtown Aurora will start accommodating two-way traffic as of July 18.

AURORA, IL — Traffic along Downer Place in downtown Aurora will become a little lighter after the one-way street begins accommodating two-way traffic. The shift is set to take place on Wednesday, July 18, and will be part of a citywide expansion of the central business district's existing one-way streets.
The two-way traffic expansion will affect Downer Place between Broadway and State Street, according to police. Officials say other streets, including Jackson, Lincoln, and Union, will stay stop-controlled all-way intersections.
The overall conversion plan to expand one-way streets is expected to span multiple years, according to a poct from the Aurora Police Department.

The shift will also include the addition of traffic signs and road markers on Downer Place and other one-way streets. While construction is underway, motorists will be directed by traffic control barrels and signs with changeable messages.
Traffic control barrels will stay on the roadway after construction as well to help make it easier and safer for motorists to adjust to the change.
