4,100 Vaccinated Against Coronavirus In Kane County: IDPH

More than 17,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered in Kane County, according to officials.

KANE COUNTY, IL — More than 4,000 people in Kane County were fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by Wednesday, public health data shows. That represents about 0.75 percent of the county’s population.

Vaccine administration has slowed down significantly in the past seven days, compared to the previous week, according to public health data shows. Just over 4,000 vaccine doses were administered from Jan. 13-19, down nearly 42 percent from the 6,875 doses administered from Jan. 6-12.

The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered stood at 572 people Tuesday, down from an all-time high of 1,005 on Jan. 13, the state’s data shows.

Michael Isaacson, assistant director for community health at the Kane County Health Department, said Wednesday that more than 17,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered in the county.

Isaacson said about 2,000 more doses will be administered by the end of the week, according to a report by Kane County Connects.

Kane County Moves Back To Tier 2 Coronavirus Restrictions

Nearly 538,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine were administered statewide by Tuesday. About 86,000 doses were given to residents and staff at Illinois long-term-care facilities through a federal program run by CVS and Walgreens.

Almost all of those who have received the vaccine are health care workers or residents of long-term-care facilities, who were prioritized under the first phase of the vaccine rollout.

Isaacson urged any Kane County health care worker who has not received information about getting the vaccine to email him at isaacsonmichael@co.kane.il.us, Kane County Connects reports.

Illinois is set to move into Phase 1B of its vaccination plans Monday, with about 3.2 million residents across the state eligible to receive a vaccine during that phase. All residents over the age of 65 qualify, as do front-line essential workers, including first responders, teachers, factory workers and grocery store employees.

About 75,000 Kane County residents are expected to qualify for the coronavirus vaccine during Phase 1B. Isaacson said residents will be able to register online for coronavirus vaccines within two weeks, Kane County Connects reports.
