'Andy Aurora' Donut Contest On Friday

Six bakeries will compete in a blind taste test for top donut

The Aurora Historical Society will host a donut tasting on Friday, April 6 as part of Aurora’s First Fridays and 25th-anniversary celebration of Wayne’s World movie. Six bakeries will compete in a blind taste test for top donut. The cost to taste all six entries is $3, and free samples from David’s Teas and Two Brothers Coffee Roasters will also be available. The event will be held at David L. Pierce Art & History Center 20 E. Downer Place, Aurora from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"The doughnut competition is the Aurora Historical Society's contribution to the 'Wayne's World' anniversary," Aurora Historical Society President Mary Clark Ormond told the Beacon News. "We didn't have any actual history to work with since the movie was not filmed here, but Stan Mikita's Donut Shop is something many people remember from the movie."

There will also be a Wayne’s World photo booth at the Aurora Fire Museum, 53 N. Broadway from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fans can also view Wayne’s basement at 5 E. Galena Blvd. in the old Waubonsee building on Stolp and Galena. 6 to 9 p.m. More info at the Aurora Downtown website.
