Aurora 7-Eleven Sold Winning Lottery Ticket To Naperville Man

Devery Carr thought the clerk was joking when he told him he won.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville man won a top prize of $250,000 instantly with a Crossword ticket. Those have always been Devery Carr’s favorite game to play, according to the Illinois Lottery. Carr recently presented his winning ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines. The winning ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven, 1202 N. Eola Road in Aurora.

“When the clerk confirmed my ticket was a big winner, I thought he was kidding,” he said. He plans to pay bills and take a vacation with the money. 7-Eleven gets one percent of the prize money, or $2,500, for selling the winning ticket. The Crossword scratch-off ticket costs $10. Illinois Lottery officials say a dozen of the top 32 available prizes have not been claimed.
