Aurora City Council Hopefuls Detail Platforms, Goals: Watch

The League of Women Voters hosted two online forums Wednesday for Aurora City Council candidates. See what they had to say.

AURORA, IL — The League of Women Voters hosted two online forums Wednesday to give candidates for Aurora City Council an opportunity to lay out their platforms and ideas for voters ahead of the April 6 election.

Three at-large candidates for Aurora City Council took part in a forum from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday night, with the event broadcast on the League of Women Voters Aurora Area Facebook page.

The race for the council’s at-large seat is between Raymond Hull, Ron Woerman and Brooke Shanley. Hull and Woerman participated in Wednesday night’s 50-minute forum, but Shanley missed out due to a scheduling conflict.

Six candidates for Aurora City Council’s 4th, 7th and 10th Wards spoke during a second forum later that evening.

John Bell is challenging incumbent 4th Ward Ald. William “Bill” Donnell, while Saul Fultz III is challenging incumbent 7th Ward Ald. Scheketa Hart-Burns. Arjun Nair and Shweta Baid are running to replace Judd Lofchie as the 10th Ward’s alderman.

Lofchie is seeking to unseat Mayor Richard Irvin in the April 6 election. John Laesch is also running for Aurora mayor.
