Aurora Has Best Water In County Second Year In Row
Four judges, picked by the Kane County Water Association, weighed taste, odor, clarity and color in a blind taste test.

KANE COUNTY, IL — In a fun annual contest Thursday, four judges participated in a blind taste test to determine which city in Kane County has the best tasting water. Kane County Water Association hosted the event, which took place at the Lincoln Inn in Batavia. Aurora came out on top for the second year in a row, the Kane County Chronicle reported.
Judges measured taste, odor, clarity and color. Aurora's competitors were Sugar Grove, St. Charles, North Aurora, Geneva, Batavia, Elgin and Montgomery. The winner's name go on a plaque that with all the winners since 1997.
Dave Martin, outgoing president, from the North Aurora water department, told the Chronicle that the winner moves on to Springfield in the spring to compete again.

Six scholarships were awarded that day by the Kane County Water Association. Those typically go to industry folks, members of the association or their family. One of the recipients works for St. Charles, and is studying public administration. Another, from Batavia, will graduate soon from the University of Iowa with a degree in mechanical engineering.
The Association also granted $1,000 that will benefit the Kane County Shop's Sheriff holiday program, which benefits local charities.
