Aurora Man Pulls Victim From Burning Single-Story Home
The bakery owner returned to work after the event.
AURORA, IL — An Aurora man rescued a struggling victim early Tuesday morning in a house fire. About five blocks from his home, 51-year-old man, Ricardo Parra stopped his car and rushed to help, according to the Aurora Beacon-News.
One person had managed to escape from the residence on the 400 block of South Ohio Street, but another man was trapped inside, according to a press release from the Aurora Fire Department. Ricardo told the Beacon-News he wasn’t afraid. Instead, he just reacted without thinking and pulled the man to safety.
Capt. Jim Rhodes of the Aurora Fire Department told the paper that although the fire’s cause is under investigation, it doesn’t appear to be suspicious. A slightly shaken Ricardo returned to work at his bakery that morning in West Chicago, where he was able to recount the tale for his son.
