Aurora Mayor To Look Internally For New Police Chief: Tribune
Police Chief Kristen Ziman announced her retirement on Monday after nearly 30 years with the department.

AURORA, IL — Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin said he will look inside the Aurora Police Department first to find a replacement for Police Chief Kristen Ziman, who announced her retirement from the force on Monday.
Irvin announced the start of the search at Tuesday's City Council Committee of the Whole meeting, according to the Chicago Tribune. Ziman's last day is set for Aug. 6.
While the search is just beginning, Ziman said in a statement announcing her retirement that she was leaving the department in capable hands.

"We like to look internally because we believe we have very qualified individuals already working in the police department, so we'll start that search coming up real soon," Irvin told the Chicago Tribune.
The Association of Professional Police Officers also released a statement about their support for Ziman's decision.
