Aurora Mayoral Race Will Have A Primary
The addition of five write-in candidates resulted in the additional election

Aurora's mayoral election will feature a primary race on Feb. 28, according to the Daily Herald. A maximum of four candidates can be listed on the spring ballot. Four candidate were on track to be listed on the ballot, but then five individuals filed their intention to run as write-in candidates. The additional candidates triggered the primary.
The four candidates who submitted nominating petitions are Linda Chapa LaVia, Richard "Rick" Guzman, Richard C. Irvin and Michael B. Saville.
The five write-in candidates are Jeffrey M. Houghtaling, Daniel N. Hoffman, Thomas V. Benedetto, David James Howard and Eva M. Rodgers. Websites for the write-in candidates could not be immediately identified.

The primary will narrow the field of candidates down to just two that will appear on the April 4 ballot.
