Aurora Police Receive 400 Gift Cards From Anonymous Residents

Two west side residents provided each officer and professional staff member with La Cabana Mexican Cafe gift cards as a token of thanks.

AURORA, IL— Two anonymous Aurora residents gifted the Aurora Police Department with 400 restaurant gift cards this week, one for every officer and professional staff member.

Attached to each gift card was a note expressing gratitude for the department’s work during the COVID-19 pandemic, Aurora police said.

“Thank you for your kindness, compassion and patience in dealing with the citizens of Aurora throughout this year,” the note read. “Your chosen occupation is not easy, even without a pandemic…enjoy a token of our appreciation for your dedication.”

The letter was signed, “Two grateful Sans Souci residents.”

Sans Souci is a single family home neighborhood on Aurora’s West Side.

Aurora police responded by thanking the anonymous donors in a public Facebook message.

“A big thank you to the two Sans Souci subdivision residents who generously dropped off 400 La Cabana Mexican Cafe gift cards for every one of our officers and professional staff members at APD," the message read. "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We appreciate your support!”
