Aurora Weekend Shootings Leave More Questions Than Answers

Police are looking for suspects in a sting of five shootings last weekend. No one was hurt.

AURORA, IL — A string of shootings over the weekend has prompted police to look to the public for help. The following is a list of the incidences gathered from the Aurora Police Department.

  1. A man reported his parked car had been shot several times. Police did not receive any calls about shots being fired near the corner of Grove and Kendall, where the vehicle was parked. The incident happened between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Oct. 21. There is no suspect or motive.
  2. Another car was stuck by bullets either late Friday night Oct. 20 or early the following morning, between 10:30 p.m. and 3 a.m. in the 800 block of Grove Street. Around $1,300 in damage was done to the vehcile. Investigators say it's possible there were two separate shootings between those times. The only information Police have is that a silver, four-door Toyota may have been involved and gang motivation hasn't been ruled out.
  3. Two men were shot at around 8:20 p.m. Oct. 20. No one was hit when they were walking in the area of Ashland and Bangs in a group. The incident could be gang related.
  4. Five men and two women, ages 22 - 34, were brought in for questioning after shots were fired in the air around 12:36 a.m. Oct. 19. Police located the neighboring apartment near the yard where those shots were believed to have originated in the the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. There, they found a revolver with a semi-auto handgun. The people were released upon further investigation but police say a nearby home on Grand Avenue has bullet damage and the incidences could be related.
  5. Shots were fired in a parking lot in the 800 block of N. Lake just after 10 o'clock p.m. Oct. 18. Police did find evidence of a shooting but there are no suspects. The 9-1-1 caller said the shots came from a brown vehicle similar to a Jeep Wrangler.
