Coronavirus Cases On The Rise In Kane County For Past 3 Weeks
Public health officials reported 196 new coronavirus cases Sunday in Kane County, the most in a single day since Jan. 23.
KANE COUNTY, IL — Kane County has experienced a significant increase in new coronavirus cases over the past three weeks, but COVID-19-related deaths remain low, public health data shows.
The county’s seven-day rolling average of new cases tripled from 55.7 on March 23 to 166.9 on April 12, with more than 2,700 residents testing positive for the coronavirus over that three-week window, according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
That’s more than twice as many cases as were recorded in the county during the previous three-week period (1,267 cases from March 2-22), the state’s data shows.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 deaths stood at 0.57 on Tuesday. That measure hit an all-time high of more than 5.85 on Dec. 16, public health data shows.
Four COVID-19 deaths have been reported since the start of April, taking the county’s death toll to 749 by Tuesday.
The IDPH has linked 328 COVID-19 deaths in Kane County to long-term-care facilities since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
