East Aurora's New Varsity Football Coach Is Nick Kukuc

The announcement was made Friday, following a search to replace former Head Coach Kurt Becker.

AURORA, IL — East Aurora High's new boys varsity football coach is Nick Kukuc. He's been working at East as a phys ed teacher since 2014, according to a press release from School District 131. He also served as an offensive coordinator and led the offseason strength and conditioning program.

“We are looking forward to the energy and enthusiasm Nick will bring to the program,” said Ben Williams, assistant principal for athletics and activities at East High. “He has established relationships with many of our student-athletes currently playing football, and I’m confident the program will continue to grow under his leadership.”

Kukuc, who played football at North Central College, said he's honored.

“We have a great group of kids, and I’m looking forward to rebuilding the pride of East Aurora athletic tradition while helping develop our student-athletes into outstanding young men.”

Coincidentally, the announcement was made on former head coach Kurt Becker's birthday. Becker resigned from his stipend coaching position he held at the high school. Becker graduated from East High in 1977, and later served as head football coach for six seasons, since 2012.
