Excellent! Wayne's World Anniversary Celebrations Scheduled in Aurora

"Wayne's World," the film about a fictional pair of community access television stars from Aurora, was released in February 1992. The city made famous by the film is set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Wayne and Garth's debut.

"Party On! 25 Years of Wayne’s World" is a series of events in Aurora scheduled from February to July. The celebration is sponsored by Aurora Downtown.

The first event is the Party On! poster contest at If These Walls Could Talk, 32 S. Stolp Ave., Aurora on Friday, February 3 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The winning poster will be used to promote later events.

Other celebrations include a "Brew N View" at the Two Brothers Roundhouse, 205 N. Broadway, Aurora, on Wednesday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m.

A look-a-like contest will be held at Luigi’s Pizza, 732 Prairie St., Aurora in April.

Wayne’s World will be shown at the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd, Aurora on Monday, May 29 at 7 p.m. for only $1.

Fans will attempt to break a world record for the largest number of people Head banging to Bohemian Rhapsody at RiverEdge Park in Aurora on Tuesday, July 4 before the fireworks.

Doughnut Tasting will be hosted by the David L. Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer Pl., Aurora, at a date to be announced later, and an air guitar competition is scheduled for sometime in May.

Continuing events include "Find Wayne & Garth!" Fans are encouraged to search for life-size cutouts of Wayne & Garth in downtown Aurora and post selfies with them on social media with the hashtag #partyonaurora.

Fans can visit a replica Pacer car at the Hollywood Casino in Aurora, 1 W. New York St.

There will also be Wayne’s World on-the-street quizzes with prizes during First Fridays, in downtown Aurora
on February 3, March 3, April 7, May 5 and June 2.
