Update: Fatal Crash in Aurora, Alcohol May Have Been a Factor: Police

Police said that the victim apparent fell off the sidewalk

A semi-truck struck and killed a 35-year-old male pedestrian on the 800 block of North Lake Street (Route 31) on Monday night, according to Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli. Lake Street was closed between Illinois and Lawndale avenues, and police asked the public to avoid the area.

Aurora police reported that the truck was traveling north on Lake Street at 9:13 p.m. when the pedestrian "apparently fell off the sidewalk into the path of the truck and was hit." Ferrelli said in an email that "alcohol may be involved on the part of the pedestrian."
