Fatal Semi Truck Parking Lot Crash Could Be Health-Related: Cops

A 62-year-old truck driver died Tuesday after witnesses tried giving CPR.

AURORA, IL — A driver of a semi truck died while behind the wheel Wednesday night. Police arrived to a manufacturing/warehouse parking lot in the 2300 block of W. Indian Trail on Aurora's Far West Side around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday. David E. McGraw, 62, of Altoona, IA, was driving east through the parking lot, witnesses said, when suddenly, he began to swerve to the left and hit other parked semitrailers, all of which were unoccupied. The witnesses ran to the semi and found him slumped over the driver's seat.

Witnesses said they pulled McGraw out of the truck, called 911 and tried to help him. When first responders arrived, they saw a 29-year-old man giving McGraw CPR. Medics rushed him to an Aurora hospital but he was pronounced dead at 9:26 p.m.

Evidence located at the scene suggest that Mr. McGraw had a medical condition that caused him to crash, said police. There were no obvious signs of trauma to him from the accident itself.
