Fired DuPage Sheriff Employee Faces Misconduct Charge

The accusations are being kept under wraps, as a judge has sealed the case.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A dispatch supervisor with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office has been charged with misconduct. He was recently fired Nov. 30, but the details of his charges are unclear, according to an article from the Daily Herald.

Former communication supervisor Gregg Hanyzeski of Naperville has been charged with knowingly performing an act forbidden by law, the Herald reports.

A judge has impounded the case, however, which means details are off-limits to the public. The charge and the impound came late Tuesday. Earlier that day, the sheriff’s office had responded to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from the Daily Herald concerning his termination.

The Sheriff’s FOIA Officer, Kent Kouba, told the paper that disclosing information about the case would interfere with "the existence of an active and ongoing criminal investigation" and a grievance filed by Hanyzeski.

Chief Deputy Circuit Court Clerk Dewey Hartman told the Herald Wednesday that all juvenile and mental health cases automatically are impounded upon filing. He added that impounding is up to the discretion of the judge.
