Flood Warning In Aurora, Surrounding Areas
A flood warning is in place until 7 a.m. Sunday for Kane and Kendall counties.

AURORA, IL — A flood warning was in place for Kane and Kendall counties early Friday, set to expire at 7 a.m. Sunday. As of 4:30 a.m. Friday, the Fox River at Montgomery was at 13.19 feet, above the 13-foot flood stage.
According to the National Weather Service, overnight storms were expected to continue through mid-morning before cooler temperatures move into the area. While much of the long term forecast is dry and mild, there is another chance for rain or storms Saturday night into early Sunday.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, flooding and continued rain were having the following impacts as of early Friday:

- North Aurora City Hall threatened.
- Structures threatened at Stolp Island in downtown Aurora.
- Structures threatened at Cool Acres Park in Aurora. River Street near Sullivan Road threatened in Aurora.
- A few structures threatened along River Street near South River Street Park in Aurora.
- River Street is threatened at South River Street Park and near Ashland Avenue in Aurora.
- Low-lying trails threatened at Lippold Park between Batavia and North Aurora.
- Athletic fields at South River Street Park are inundated in Aurora.
- Veterans Memorial threatened at Illinois Avenue in Aurora.
- Low-lying sections of Fabyan Forest Preserve near Batavia, Hurds Island and Gregory Island Park in Aurora, and Riverfront Park in North Aurora are inundated.
Conditions were worse in other areas including Lake County, where emergency crews were carrying residents from their flooded homes amid a flash flood warning.
