Freight Train Derails In Aurora

AURORA, IL — Emergency crews responded to a multi-car train derailment that took place in Aurora Thursday afternoon. Police say the incident took place near the intersection of River and Third.

Police say there were no injuries reported and there was no hazard to the public.

The intersection remained closed as Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad personnel worked to right the train and block off any areas affected by the crash.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area as further repairs take place.
