Garage Fire Wakes Aurora Residents

No one was hurt, but the house is deemed uninhabitable.

AURORA, IL — A resident in the 900 block of Four Seasons Boulevard was awakened Wednesday to an unusual smell, only to find flames coming from the back of the home's garage. The person called 911 and the Aurora Fire Department responded to the two-story, single-family home on the city's South Side around 6:03 a.m.

Crews arrived to heavy fire showing from an attached garage, according to a press release from the Aurora Fire Department. It took 24 firefighters two hours to fully extinguish the flames. Damage, for the most part, was contained to the single-family home. There was, however, minor damage to the outside of a neighbor's home.

There were no injuries reported, but the home was deemed uninhabitable with an estimated damage cost of $75,000. The fire is under investigation, the press release said.
