Kane Co. Residents Get Winter Clothes From Maddie’s Mitten March

NORTH AURORA, IL — Local residents dropped by the North Aurora Police Department on Sunday afternoon to pick up much-needed winter gear from Maddie’s Mitten March.

Maddie Bozik, of North Aurora, launched the nonprofit group in 2008, when she 10 years old to help neighbors in need of warm clothing to get through the winter months, according to a news release.

She handed out coats, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and boots from inside a bus Sunday, with help from her parents, Mark and Vickie, her sister Lexie and Laura Dodson, of St. Charles, the release states.

Bozik, now 21, is a nursing student at Methodist College in Peoria and serves as an emergency medical technician for multiple fire departments, the release states.

The 2017 West Aurora High School graduate was helped Sunday by her parents, Mark and Vickie, her sister Lexie and Laura Dodson, of St. Charles, according to the release.

Maddie’s Mitten March focuses its efforts in Kane County, but it offers help throughout Illinois when it has enough clothing and money to do so.

"Our mission is to collect money and clothing to provide clothing directly to underprivileged individuals or organizations that will distribute the clothing to underprivileged individuals,” Bozik said.
