Kane County Voters Top 2016 Turnout Prior To Election Day

KANE COUNTY, IL — Kane County surpassed its 2016 vote total before a single vote had been cast on Election Day, according to Clerk John Cunningham.

Just over 172,000 Kane County residents voted in the 2016 general election. Kane County topped that total by noon Nov. 2, Cunningham said, after huge increases in early and mail-in voting.

Nearly 32 percent more early votes were cast by Election Eve this year than during the 2016 election, while mail-in voting was already up more than 700 percent with many mailed ballots still to be counted, according to the clerk.

Mail-in ballots in Illinois can be processed before Election Day by will not be counted until polls close Tuesday. Mail-in ballots will be accepted and counted after Election Day as long as they are postmarked by Nov. 3.

All polling places in Kane County will remain open until 7 p.m. Anyone who is line to vote by 7 p.m. has the right to cast their ballot.
